Review by hotel critic
I recently enjoyed a two-night stay in Southern Scotland while exploring Dumfries & Galloway. The hotel, although currently undergoing renovations, provided a pleasant and cozy atmosphere. My room, No. 5, was situated towards the back, offering a serene environment for restful nights. What stood out during my visit was the blend of traditional charm and modern amenities. The staff, including Hannah and Sam, were welcoming and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. I appreciated the full cooked breakfasts, which were hearty and well-prepared, and the dinner menu seemed equally promising-both meals were served in generous portions. Despite some renovations, the hotel maintained its character, and the convenient wireless internet was a nice touch for planning my local explorations. The location is particularly handy for those looking to enjoy the quieter side of Southern Scotland, with limited dining options nearby, making the hotel's services all the more essential. It was a worthwhile stop on my journey.
